Cookies Make People Happy

Just ask any child about the top 5 things that make them smile.  Aside from puppies, I would be willing to bet that Cookies are on that list.  Kids aren’t unique when it comes to enjoying tasty treats.  I bet that many adults would include something sweet or indulgent on their list, too!DI&D_logo

If eating cookies makes you or your kids happy, imagine how it would feel to receive cookies if you were sick, homeless, or a veteran home from battle.  That’s what Lydia had in mind when she founded Drop In and Decorate, a tax-exempt nonprofit organization.  Why don’t groups of people get together, decorate cookies, and then give them to people in need?  It’s a win-win – you are having a great time with your friends, you get to taste a cookie or two, and you get to make someone happy.  Why wouldn’t you do it?

If you and your kids would like to host your own Drop In & Decorate® event, Pillsbury and Wilton would like to help. Pillsbury has donated 50 VIP coupons, worth $3.00 each, off any Pillsbury product — including sugar cookie mix, icing and flour — to be distributed, first come, first served, while supply lasts, to anyone who plans to host a Drop In & Decorate event (max. 5 coupons per person). And we’ll include a Comfort Grip cookie cutter, donated by Wilton, while our supply lasts. Write to lydia AT ninecooks DOT com for more info on how to get your free coupons and cookie cutters.

  • Michelle, thank you so much for helping to spread the word about Drop In & Decorate. You’re right, of course — who doesn’t smile when they see a beautiful cookie? And wouldn’t it be fun if one of your readers decorates and donates the 10,000th cookie some time this year?

  • That would be amazing, Lydia. You have done a wonderful thing with this endeavor! My readers are awesome, so I wouldn’t be surprised at all if one of them donated the 10,000th cookie! (hint, hint, dear readers…)

  • i LOVE this!

  • Thanks Michelle, for your support of a wonderful program. I’ve been at many Drop In & Decorate events and they are always fun and a great way to meet new people and old friends.

  • I don’t think there’s a kid out there who doesn’t like cookies. I know my son drives me crazy with them.
The ideea Lydia had is amazing, so original and thoughtful. Great work.
