Stainless Steel Lunch Kits from Kids Konserve
As many of you know, I sell a variety of waste free lunch products on my website. While I mostly sell cute reusable lunch bags, sandwich wrappers and stainless steel water bottles, many of you are asking for small, leak-proof stainless steel containers. Sadly, I have had a heck of a time finding some that would be affordable to you. But our luck has changed!
It was as if Hanukkah came all over again when I got my package from Kids Konserve in the mail. I was so excited to be able to test and review their Reusable Waste Free Lunch Kit, complete with stainless steel food containers. Before I even got the lunch bag completely emptied, my children were clamoring over who would get to use the kit first!
My children loved using this lunch kit. The stainless steel containers, while a bit difficult to open for little hands, were roomy and leak resistant (a parent’s dream!). The napkin came in handy (ie. there was noticeably less food smeared on the sleeves of my son’s shirt!). The only constructive feedback that my daughter offered is that she wished the handles on the lunch bag were a bit larger. She likes to put her arm through the bag or hang it on her shoulder and be “hands-free”.

Green Your School by jumpstarting a Waste-Free Lunch Challenge with Kids Konserve.
Facts: The average American child generates 67 pounds of lunchtime trash, children’s lunches create 3.5 billion pounds of garbage, and 18,760 pounds of trash are generated each year from the average elementary school. It takes a 15-year-old tree to produce just 700 paper lunch sacks.
Kick the plastic bottle habit by purchasing a reusable stainless steel bottle.
Facts: 50 billion plastic water bottles were consumed last year. 80 percent of these end up in the landfill leaving barely 20% to be recycled. According to NRDC, tests show that bottled water isn’t necessarily safer than tap water, plus the manufacturing and shipping of the bottles gobbles up petroleum and energy and most bottles wind up in landfills or incinerators. Stainless Steel is a good choice, because you don’t have to worry about potentially toxic chemicals that can leach out of many plastics over time. The message in a bottle; Choose to Reuse.
Go waste-free by using a reusable waste-free lunch kit.
Facts: Packing school lunches day after day can be a tedious and seemingly endless chore. But with over 53 million children eating lunch in schools across the country every day, the real burden is on the planet. In fact, the average American child produces 67 pounds of trash each year from school lunch alone. Check out the new Kids Konserve Go Wild patterns and products for making your lunch packing a “greener” one.
