Apples and Honey
To the fellow members of my tribe, we hope you have a happy and sweet new year. To celebrate, call your kids into the kitchen to help you make this delicious treat.
Apple Honey Crisp
4-5 apples, Granny Smith or Gala work well
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup flour
2/3 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
Directions:
- Peel and slice apples.
- Arrange in a baking dish that has been treated with non-stick spray.
- Sprinkle with lemon juice.
- Drizzle honey over the top of the apples.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, rolled oats, brown sugar and salt together.
- Cut in butter until mixture looks like coarse bread crumbs.
- Sprinkle evenly over top of apples.
- Bake at 375 degrees F. for 45 to 50 minutes, until the apples are cooked and the crust is golden.
- Serve warm.
CALLTHE KIDS:
- If you are using an apple peeler/corer/slicer, let the kids turn the crank and help gather the peels that gather on the counter.
- Arrange apple slices in the baking dish
- Juice the lemon and pour over the apples.
- Drizzle honey.
- Measure and mix dry crumble ingredients
- Pour crumble topping over the apple mixture.

Hi Amanda,
Thank you! I just visited your site – great idea. I tried doing something similar with a small fee for subscriptions, but it was too overwhelming trying to do that and run What’s Cooking at the same time (not to mention parenting!)… Job well done
