Green Business Recognition Ceremony honors What’s Cooking
Thirty-five Marin County businesses will receive their Green Business certification by the Marin County Board of Supervisors at a Green Business Recognition Ceremony on December 4th. The program was launched by the County of Marin’s Community Development Agency in April of 2002. They join 210 other businesses already certified, bringing the total to 245 in Marin. Bay Area-wide there are over 1,000 recognized Green Businesses. Certification as a Green Business requires that businesses meet higher standards than required by law in energy and water conservation, waste reduction and pollution prevention.
The 35 businesses to be certified as Marin Green Businesses are:

Example measures adopted by some of these green businesses include:
- Product lines and services that include energy efficient materials, renewable energy, promotion and use of local organic foods, habitat restoration and less toxic materials.
- Upgrades to facilities that include energy efficient lighting and equipment and building materials that are less toxic and/or include recycled content
- Emission reduction measures that include home based businesses, incentives for carpooling and company vehicles run on alternative fuels
